ONLINE HOMECARE LAUNCHES IN CANADA

TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED BY PRINS FAMILY PROVIDES MONITORING, HOMECARE AND HEALTH SERVICES USING REMOTE ACCESS

Calgary, April 3, 2004 – HomeCustodian, a developer of home automation products, officially launched in Canada with the announcement that its online homecare product is now available.   Using technology to provide homecare services including automation of manual tasks, monitoring, remote access and emergency services, HomeCustodian significantly reduces the cost of homecare provision.

The company was formed when the Prins Family realized they had a marketable product after their software designer son had wired up the house to assist his mother once she returned from the hospital following a major operation.    Glenn Prins, an early pioneer in Internet remote access, designed a program that turned the family's home computer into a caregiver.

Ed Prins, Father and telecom equipment specialist, installed remote sensors, Internet cameras, and intercom speakers, around the home.  Their mother could now carry out household tasks from one central location and father and son could monitor her from any location.

Ed Prins, president, HomeCustodian said, "The product developed out of necessity, but when we realized mounting health care costs was a world wide concern, we thought we had something."

With full proprietary rights to the software, the Prins family quickly secured patents and incorporated.  A management team was created that included Glenn Prins, and other son, Kevin Prins, an online product manager for a financial institution.

Two trial units have been installed in Calgary and Barrie Ontario, with a third in development in New Westminster.

HomeCustodian is seeking applicants for trial units in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Victoria.

It is also planning to launch a public affairs campaign to educate the public and government as to health service efficiencies created through online homecare.

With a product now on the market, the company is investing in infrastructure, recruiting a sales force and building its supply chain.

"We believe there is a large unmet market," said Prins, "With increasing health care costs and an aging population homecare is being talked about every day."

Reducing the cost of existing home care by supplementing it with technology that restores dignity to people, is an attractive product.

HomeCustodian can be installed for approximately the same price as a month of homecare, with a nurse visiting the home three times a week.  Once installed HomeCustodian monitors and protects 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Media Backgrounder

HomeCustodian is a developer of home automation products. The company officially launched in Great Britain in November of 2001 with the development of its first product. The product utilizes the Internet and local networks to provide remote-access home care services, which include monitoring, automation of manual tasks and emergency services.

The company formed when the Prins Family realized they had a marketable product after their software designer son wired up the house. HomeCustodian technology was designed to assist his mother following her return from the hospital after a major operation. Glenn Prins, an early pioneer in Internet remote access, designed a program that turned the family's home computer into a care provider. Ed Prins, Father and telecom equipment specialist, installed remote sensors, Internet cameras, and intercom speakers around the home. Marian Prins could now carry out household tasks from one central location and so could father and son - from any location.

The initial product developed out of necessity but when the family realized mounting health care costs was a worldwide concern, it formed HomeCustodian to further develop its product line.

HomeCustodian is the first to market an interactive monitoring system that empowers individuals to live independently in their own homes. Currently there are no systems that provide homecare monitoring through the Internet. With full proprietary rights to the system, the Prins family quickly incorporated and has secured eleven patents for its software and its uniquely designed equipment.

A trial unit was installed in Farnham Royal, England and demonstrated it could provide safe, responsive care. A large-scale demonstration unit is located in Barrie, Ontario. The company has since relocated to Canada and its headquarters are in Calgary. The company has offices in Barrie and Vancouver, with an additional trial unit in Calgary.

HomeCustodian is an off-the-shelf solution that can be installed for approximately the half the amount of a new computer. Once installed it monitors and protects 24 hours a day.

The company is targeting large unmet markets like health care. Increasing health care costs and an aging population will dictate the demand for home care. Offering affordable solutions, the product is designed to provides services that restore dignity to people in need and is attractive to the both private and public sectors.

With its first product on the market and a North American launch scheduled for February 2003, HomeCustodian has been investing in infrastructure, recruiting a sales force and building its supply chain. HomeCustodian is also developing other automation products for cottages, golf courses and daycares.
